National Medical Librarians' Month

The Charles R. Drew University (CDU) Library proudly celebrates National Medical Librarians' Month throughout October. Medical librarians are critical advocates for trusted, reliable information, especially as we navigate the complexities of the AI revolution. Their expertise highlights the essential need for high-quality information to drive better decision-making in healthcare and research. This month, we honor the lasting impact of four distinguished medical librarians who made significant contributions to the field:

M. Moss Humphrey – Founding Director of the  Charles R. Drew University Library and poet (Los Angeles, CA).

Beverly E. Allen – Founding Director of the Morehouse School of Medicine  Library (Atlanta, GA).

Naomi Broering –Past Medical Library Association (MLA) President (1996-97)  and former Library Director at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (San Diego, CA).

Jocelyn Rankin –Former Chief of the Information Center at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (Atlanta, GA).

We offer our gratitude for their commitment to information excellence
