The Charles R. Drew University (CDU) Library features various exhibits that are showcased each month.
Black Maternal Health Care Exhibit
The Black Maternal Health Care Exhibit (BMHCE) highlights efforts to improve birth outcomes for Black women in Los Angeles County. It explores how structural racism contributes to the Black maternal health crisis and uplifts the work of community midwives and advocates leading change. In the U.S., Black mothers and infants face maternal mortality rates three to six times higher than other groups, despite most deaths being preventable. Through education, research, and community partnership, BMHCE works to transform maternity care and promote equity.
